An update to our partners regarding COVID-19
Wednesday 18th March 2020
Whilst you have no doubt received many updates from partners with regards to the ongoing global COVID 19 situation, we wanted to touch base with you to let you know that we are keeping a close eye on developments. With this being a dynamic and somewhat unprecedented situation, we are approaching our continual planning with proactive, open minds.
Speaking generally, the COVID-19 situation has not affected Syndico to date, although we are re-evaluating every day due to its fast-moving nature. We have been following the Government’s advice at every stage; now that they have had the opportunity to give a fully-rounded update on the COVID-19 situation and announced specific plans to support the UK economy, we would like to share with you some specific areas of our business which we have given consideration to.
YOU, our partners
Above all else, we are relieved that our partners around the world are OK and have been largely unaffected. This is a very challenging time for everybody around the world, and perhaps is an unprecedented event in our current social and economic climates. If you are concerned at all, the UK Government have issued comprehensive guidance for employees, employers and businesses. Whilst the COVID-19 situation may change the business world, either on a short-or long-term basis, we urge you to look after yourself and those closest to you.
Syndico Staff
We are nothing without our team, and we have been following Government guidance closely with regards to the well-being of our employees. Currently, there have been no changes or disruptions to our everyday working routine as a result of COVID-19. However, all our non-warehouse staff are fully connected and capable to work remotely, and all staff are trained on essential warehouse procedures. Like any unprecedented event, we will be flexible and react to changes, and our commitment to you is that we will continue to deliver our trademark service.
Daily DPD consignments
Aside from the safety and well-being of our partners and staff, our absolute priority is to fulfil your orders quickly and accurately. We know that you will more than likely have customers in the healthcare, public service and security sectors, which will experience additional strain at this time. We have been working closely with our courier partner, DPD, who have taken several precautionary steps to protect their staff and service. As a result, DPD’s service is running as normal – you can read about the precautions they have taken here. We will update you with any changes should they arise.
Stock
We are always planning our stock very carefully and many months (sometimes longer) in advance. Our current stock situation is very normal; we are holding a healthy stock of products, including fast-moving product lines. We are also working closely with our partners who are monitoring this dynamic situation; we have had particularly detailed discussions with Hytera who have assured us that they do not expect any supply issues with consignments arriving to the UK from their China HQ. Again, we will update you with any changes if they arise.
Meetings & events
As a precautionary measure, our staff have been encouraged not to conduct any face-to-face meetings or attend industry events over the coming weeks, aside from those which are absolutely essential. They have also been discouraged from non-essential travel in line with Government advice. We do, however, have full video conferencing facilities which will help us to collectively minimise any disruption to business conversations.
We hope that you and those closest to you are safe and well, and we will keep you up-to-date with any developments as and when they arise.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew Wilson & Shona Barnett
