Critical Communications World (CCW) brings together mission-critical and business-critical users with leading manufacturers and suppliers for three dynamic days of insight, innovation, and networking.
I recently made the short trip to Brussels to attend CCW 2025. At the event, I was excited to visit Mobile Tornado, Syndico’s PTX solutions partner, as they revealed some exciting updates and enhancements to their already impressive portfolio.
Here are some of my key takeaways from visiting Mobile Tornado’s stand at the event.
Sam Ogles – Commercial and Marketing Development Manager
Mobile Tornado can now support Mission Critical applications
Mobile Tornado is a world-leading enterprise push-to-talk (PTT) provider. Their technology sets a new standard in the industry, delivering carrier-grade reliability with 99.999% system availability and voice connection setup in under half a second. Their Push-to-Talk Over Cellular (PoC) solution ensures seamless handovers between mobile and broadband networks, and operates flawlessly across 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G technologies. These are just some of the reasons why its platform is the business push-to-talk solution of choice for many non-critical applications around the world.
However, in partnership with Frequentis, Mobile Tornado now offers a Mission Critical PTT solution – a major technological advancement and one which will provide huge possibilities and opportunities for Mobile Tornado partners.
What exactly is “Mission Critical”?
Mission Critical Services were created to replace traditional PMR and TETRA systems with more flexible but no-less secure and robust broadband-based, interoperable solutions which work over LTE and 5G.
Defined by the global body responsible for setting mobile communication standards, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), Mission Critical Services follow strict protocols under LTE and 5G frameworks.
Mobile Tornado’s Mission Critical services provide reliable voice, data and video communications which are fully compliant with 3GPP specifications:
- Mission Critical Push-to-Talk: PTT voice communication with group and individual calling support. Includes advanced call capabilities, including interrupting and emergency calls.
- Mission Critical Video: Real-time video streaming and video sharing in mission-critical situations.
- Mission Critical Data: Secure transmission of text, location, images, files and other data types.

On their stand at CCW, Mobile Tornado displayed the R5 device from Handsfree Group, a fixed vehicle device and integrated communication platform designed specifically for public safety vehicle applications. The R5 is the first device of its kind to be approved by the UK Home Office’s Emergency Services Network (ESN) programme, and is currently undergoing extensive testing by a wide range of UK emergency service agencies. This is just one example
A brand new powerful Web-Based Dispatch Console

An evolvement from their current PC application dispatch solution, Mobile Tornado showcased their new web-based dispatch console at the event.
The advanced dispatch solution, which is now accessed via a web browser as opposed to an installed PC application, provides a range of powerful features including:
- Real-time PTT communications
- Live location tracking and geofencing
- Integrated messaging
- Instant alerting
Accessible from any device with a web browser and internet connection, it empowers dispatchers to stay in control from virtually anywhere in the world by providing them with an array of flexible and intuitive tools.
By keeping dispatchers connected and informed, the dispatch console enables better situational awareness, improved coordination of operations, and faster response times.
Dispatch solutions can add huge value to operations, and LTE-based PTT solutions like Mobile Tornado can help organisations to experience levels of flexibility and efficiency not previously achievable with narrowband solutions.
A pricing model which ensures the customer only pays for the functionality they need
A major advantage of Mobile Tornado is how you build your pricing based on the features and functionality you need. Mobile Tornado’s core push-to-talk packages provide all the basic features you need at an affordable price point, and are available in two versions depending on the device you are using:

PTT Lite
Wide-area PTT app for use with PoC radios, including Hytera PNC360 (pictured) and the new Hytera P50 Series. Great for one-to-one, one-to-many and one-to-all communication without geographical limits for users who don’t need additional features like multimedia messaging.

Core PTT
Wide-area PTT app for use with Android or iOS smart devices, including Hytera PNC460, Zebra Touch Computers and Samsung rugged phones (pictured). Includes additional features including multimedia messaging, great for users who need to use multiple applications into one device.
Once you have selected the appropriate version for your device, Mobile Tornado then offers a range of add-ons which allows you to get the absolute best out of your communication solution, while only paying for the features each user actually needs.
The following add-ons are available:
- Voice Recording – Store, retrieve and playback one-to-one or one-to-group PTT calls.
- Push-to-Alert – Allow users to initiate emergency calls with “stealth listening” and full-duplex mode, with SOS incident flow management via the Mobile Tornado dispatcher.
- Push-to-Locate – Live location tracking and location history records, including geofencing when used with the Mobile Tornado dispatcher.
- Push-to-Video – Live video broadcasting, both one-to-one and one-to-group.
- Lone Worker – Increase the safety of remote and lone workers through location tracking, emergency (SOS) alerts, keep alive features and device inactivity monitoring.
- Workforce Management – Provides real-time visibility of employee locations, job statuses and availability, and enables tasks to be allocated to based on availability, skill set and location.
- Mobile Device Management (MDM) – Limit device functionality and the applications installed on the devices to enforce compliance.
Most PoC solutions have “tiers” according to their functionality. However, this often results in the customer paying for far more features than they need simply because the “core” licence only offers limited functionality.
With Mobile Tornado, you can ensure that every team or even individual user is equipped with only the features they need for their role, and the business can make the most of a pricing model which works for them.
